WORKSHOP DETAILS

In this introductory workshop we will be learning to play traditional Celtic melodies (tunes) on the acoustic guitar. We will be in Standard Tuning, playing with a plectrum (flatpick), and learning as a group a variety of popular session tunes including airs, reels, and jigs. Primarily the guitar has been used as an accompaniment instrument in Celtic music providing a rhythmic and harmonic back-up and support for melody players (fiddle, whistle, pipes, mandolin). With Celtic Flatpicking Guitar we are now going to join in and share taking the lead as one of the melody (tune) players.

This workshop is aimed at adult guitar players who have been playing for three or more years and are comfortable with basic lead playing. And also for more advanced guitar players who are new to playing Celtic Flatpicking Guitar or traditional Celtic music and would love a helpful introduction into playing this beautiful, traditional and fun music!

*Get in touch if you are unsure if you are at the right level for the workshop.
